Undervalued Tight Ends in Fantasy for 2024!
Sam LaPorta was my favorite sleeper at TE in 2023. A rookie who the Lions coveted to replace TJ Hockensen… and boy did he. Tight ends are a postion I like to wait on and draft two later in the double digit rounds. I was able to get LaPorta in several leagues in round 13 or later. My advice is if a TE falls in your lap in the 5th or 6th round that is the only time to think about taking a TE, if not then wait and solidify your roster and take multiple TE’s late and keep an eye on the waiver wire for a breakout TE who may surprise and wasn’t even drafted.
Trey McBride (ARZ)
McBride broke out last season for 825 yards receiving on 81 receptions. That came with Kyler Murray missing more than half the season. Marvin Harrison Jr. projects to be the No. 1 target right away for Murray, but McBride is in a place to be that No. 2 target in the passing game on this Arizona offense. In Weeks 8-18, among tight ends, he ranked first in weighted opportunity and target share, fourth in YPRR and missed tackles forced, and fifth in PFF receiving grade. In year 2 McBride looks to take a jump in his production.

Theo Johnson (NYG)
Rookie tight ends don’t usually provide consistent weekly fantasy usage. With that said, the retirement of Darren Waller leaves a pretty big void in the team’s tight end room, and the Giants drafted Johnson in the fourth round to eventually be the one who fills it. An incredibly athletic tight end, Johnson is already turning heads from some impressive plays during OTAs and minicamp. Johnson posted one of the best relative athletic scores in NFL combine history. That’s important because the majority of relevant tight ends in fantasy football are high-end athletes. In a Daboll offense where tight ends see 22% and more target share, Johnson could be a poor mans healthy Darren Waller.
Lucas Krull (DEN)
Denvers coach Sean Payton has seemingly hinted that Krull could have a much bigger role in 2024. Payton has had high praise for Krull this offseason and seems to be a guy he likes in his offense. Payton was quoted as saying… ‘Someday soon, they’re going to know who 85 is.’ He’s looking sharp.” Sean Payton’s past offenensive schemes have made tight ends have pro bowl seasons. Krull might be somebody you can grab really late in drafts would could outperform his ADP by several rounds.
