1 Quarterback I would draft in each round 1st through 11th!
For all my drafts I like to play the waiting game on QB and see what falls to me and get a great value at QB and if its late enough take 2 QB’s close in ceiling to up my odds of this strategy working out.
Round 1. Josh Allen (BUF)
I would never take a QB in the 1st round but if you’re league is somehow QB crazy and QB’s get higher point totals, then you can argue it. I would still wait and take him in the 2nd round where still will probably be available in most drafts. Allen is the only QB I would even consider because he accounts for about 80% of the teams scoring, whether on the ground or in the air. He is a QB who looks to get out of the pocket and run so that adds so much to his ceiling each week.
Round 2. Lamar Jackson (BAL)
For most of the same reason as I like Josh Allen, Jackson adds huge value on the ground. Jackson can throw for less than 200 yards and 1 TD in the air and with his rushing still finishes as top 3 QB for the week. Jackson to me is a complete steal anywhere after the 4th round no matter what format it is.
Round 3. Patrick Mahomes (KC)
Who else can you argue as potential to finish as Fantasy QB1 over Mahomes? He doesn’t have the same rushing value as Jackson or Allen but could throw 10 more TD’s than them easily. Mahomes same as Jackson is a steal anywhere after the 4th round.
Round 4. Jalen Hurts (PHI)
I’m not as high on Hurts as most people and would never reach for him earlier than the 4th round. He provides some rushing and can support 2 WR’s but sometimes Hurts doesn’t show up as consistent as you’d like. If you’re pick 1.09 – 1.12 in your draft and happen to get AJ Brown early Hurts is a good stack option with your early 4th round pick.
Round 5. Anthony Richardson (IND)
Richardson looked like he could be a fantasy monster at times before he was injured and missed most of the year as a rookie. Now in his sophomore season he is looking to make an impact in the fantasy world. He does come with some risk as he has never done it before and it’s all hype! If you’re a guy who likes to gamble Richardson might be your guy in the 5th round.
Round 6. Kyler Murray (ARZ)
Murray was coming off an injury and didn’t play until late for 8 games. In those 8 games he threw for 1,799 yards and 10 TD’s and 244 yards and 3 TD’s on the ground, which ranked him 8th overall in that span. With a healthy offseason and a better grasp of the playbook Murray could flourish this year and finish as top 5 QB if he stays healthy. He is some if I draft I do try to draft a late QB 2 I can rely on if needed.
Round 7. Jordan Love (GB)
Love finished as QB 11 overall last year. That includes six top-10 finishes in his final eight games. Love was eighth or better in passing yards, attempts, completions, while also finishing second in passing touchdowns and posting a 3-to-1 TD/INT ratio. Coming into another season now Love could take another step and be what he was for those last 8 weeks of the season and jump into the top 5 Qb conversation.
Round 8. Dak Prescott (DAL)
Dak was the man in 2023. With a subpar run game Dak stepped up and put up his 2nd best season in yards of 4,516 and TD’s of 36 while rushing for 242 yards and 2 TD’s. Dak is looking to get paid and should put the offense again on his shoulders and as long as Lamb is back on the field Dak should be in the top 5 QB convo at the end of the year again.
Round 9. Trevor Lawrence (JAC)
Lawrence threw for 4,016 and 21 TD’s in 16 games last year, some playing through a leg injury. He also ran for 339 yard and 4 TD’s playing with that injury. I look for Lawrence to take the next step in his NFL career in 2024 in Petersons offense. Ridley wasn’t a fit with the Jag’s and messed up their chemistry in my opinion. With him gone and Kirk back as the the #1 WR and the additions of Gabe Davis and Brian Thomas Jr this pass attack could flourish. Engram also was a top TE for the Jags and adds to the weapons Lawrence has at his disposal.
Round 10. Brock Purdy (SF)
Purdy threw for 4,280 yards with 31 TD’s. He doesn’t’ provide much upside on the ground and that is why I have Trevor Lawrence ahead of him. Purdy can be consistent and if you have any 49er it’s an advantage with how their offense operates. I’m not reaching for him but if I took Richardson earlier Purdy is a safe reliable option to back him up.
Round 11. Rookie QB’s – Williams (CHI) or Daniels (WAS)
Either QB is ok to draft here as they both have upside with getting some rushing yards and TD’s and both have a lot of promise as the top 2 picks in the draft. Both have shown promise in training camp and have had good reports so far. I don’t think they will be as consistent as Stroud was in 2023 but are worth a shot as your QB2 to start your season.
