2 Over Hyped Picks at Running Back
2 over hyped picks at running back that could be a bust this season in fantasy! Now, I am not saying that these running backs won’t produce from time to time and still may finish in the top 15-20 running backs, but these guys are way too overhyped. These guys will not have the opportunities that everyone thinks they will, and just flat out will be a bust compared to where they are being drafted right now.
#2 – Jahmyr Gibbs – Right now Gibbs is being drafted as early as the 10th RB on off the board? Gibbs is talented and the Lions have the easiest schedule versus running backs this season… BUT that only adds to David Montgomery’s value. Gibbs will be the main pass catcher out of the backfield and should garner 45+ receptions but guys going after him like Mattison, Pacheco and Rachaad White will get, that plus some and not have the competition for opportunities in their respective backfields. Montgomery will hog the goal line opportunities and early down carries. Should Montgomery have early success he will hinder any chance at Gibbs breaking the top 20 RB’s this season. Gibbs right now is a luxury player in this offense, not a work horse and will be used as such as he establishes himself in this league. He is this years 2020 Tony Pollard who only had 622 all purpose yards and 4 TD’s.
#1 – Bijan Robinson – Robinson is an exceptional athlete and I can see how all the hype has been garnered by him and had he landed on a better team I think some of the hype could be real. The truth is Robinson is not on a very good team. Tyler Allgeier did rush for a 1,035 yards last season behind a good offensive line and the line should not take a step back. Robinson will be used as a pass catcher as well and take over the Cordarele Patterson role in the offense. Robinson will provide some exciting plays and have some top 5 running back games, but it won’t be consistent. Robinson is consistently going in the top 10 in drafts right now. I have guys like Pollard, Barkley, and any top 3 WR as better options as to pulling the trigger on Robinson this year. Allgeier is still a threat to Robinsons volume and to goal line TD’s. Mobile QB play from Ridder or Heinicke will also take some rushing TD’s away from Robinsons totals.
